Every Move Counts Campaign

The Every Move Counts campaign aims to promote that any movement can contribute towards better physical and mental health.

Students can lead a sedentary lifestyle with some literature reporting students accumulate around 9 1/2 hours a day of inactivity. This is not surprising when you think about the time spent sat still while studying, socialising, eating, commuting, and work; it all adds up. Prolonged sedentary behaviour can have a detrimental impact on our health both physically and mentally. However, frequently breaking up sedentary behaviour with any movement, be it stretching, briefly moving away from the desk, standing up and sitting down, can benefit us. It can energise us, refocus us, and get the blood circulating.

As part of this campaign, hints and tips on adding regular movement into students lives are being shared on social media weekly and the Wellbeing Wednesdays and Halls MS Teams as part of monthly sports posts. Posters have also gone up on Wellbeing boards at Keele University.
