University Mental Health Day 2021

Our stories.png

On Thursday 4th March both universities supported the Student Minds' Uni Mental Health Day.

This day brings together the university community to make mental health a university-wide priority and get the nation talking about student mental health. Both the universities supported this by sharing the eBook Our Stories which is an example of ways we're working to destigmatise mental health in our communities. Our Stories is a compilation of stories from staff and students across Keele and Staffordshire university about their MH experiences.

Both universities also hosted other activities to promote student mental health.
At Keele:
    • A message of kindness campaign was launched where students sent 75 messages of kindness to their peers
    • One of the wellbeing ambassadors ran a clay workshop over Teams where students made plant pots together
    • Over social media, pet therapy was run by sharing pictures of their pets
    • Again over social media, infographics were created and shared to signpost students to Student Minds resources & the types of support available to students on campus
    • Our Head of Counselling also featured in a blog on 'rising to the challenge' of returning to a new normality over the next few years
At Staffordshire:
    • There was a live mural available to students to share their top tips and comments relating to the three key themes of the Start to Success mental health campaign: isolation, stigma and self-help.
